Arsenal Wins Against Liverpool

With 1-0 down against Liverpool at the end of the first half, Arsenal pull the match off with a 2-1 win over Liverpool. A better performance as compared to the 1st half, they managed to get two goals. The equalizer was an own goal by Johnson, who got a bit unlucky, but it would be wrong if I say Arshavin did not have any part to play in that goal.

The second goal was a screamer by Arshavin! When he got the pass at the edge of the box, I did think that he would take an off the goal shoot. But the shoot actually bulleted in the goal after getting an inside edge. Fantastic! Reina actually had no chance…

Chelsea is at the top of the table with 37 points having played 16 games. Manchester United stand at second with 34 points in 16 games. And after the win today at Anfield, Arsenal crawls up to 31 points in 15 games. Finally we have a real chance of winning the title after 2004 …

Not bad… Finally things are starting to get better at the Emirates… and I hope it only gets better … Okay I’m relieved now, lets get off the soccer topic …

Hail The Gunners!

Why is Arshavin not playing against Chelsea?

Already upset by the Champions League knock out of Arsenal against Manchester United, I was hoping that Arsene would atleast try to do something to regain some honour for the club against Chelsea in the Barclay’s Premier League tie at the Emirates Stadium on 10 May 2009 on Super Sunday. I mean it is just ridiculous to find out that Arshavin is not playing again because he had some flu and he is feeling ill?

I don’t know but I have a weird feeling, Arshavin was not given a chance against Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi Final against Chelsea about a couple of weeks back, without any specific reason? Although everyone was expecting Arshavin to be in the game, and no one knows why Arshavin wasn’t put on the field? Isn’t this just crazy? Okay I can forget that! Today’s match was another one against Chelsea that everyone was expecting Arshavin to play, but he is not there because he is ill… If we start noticing, Arshavin has been a part of all the fixtures against all teams and is always preferred by Arsene Wenger, which was also proved against Liverpool at Anfield, with the exception of the UEFA Champions League and the matches against Chelsea.

I don’t know about you guys, but this can be possible because of two reasons:

  1. Either it is pure bad luck or a coincidence
  2. Or is this because of some sort of Russian connection?

It is very weird how he is not available for matches against Chelsea for some reason. Do ponder over this!

Apart from that, Alisher has said that Arsenal should spend more which of course all of us as fans do. But I seriously doubt that Arsene would do that. When he was questioned about signing big names after the Champions League defeat, he answered in his own typical style that the club already has Diaby and Bendtner, and it would not be a fair for for them to bring in new players. OHKAY!! I agree that Diaby and Bendner are potential good players, but tell me something for God’s sake:

“Does Arsenal exist to groom and make big players from unidentified ones or does it exist to play football and win something?”

I still cannot make out what the club and Arsene is aiming to do here? It is about time we show some spark and show that we belong to the big four and we’re not just an ordinary team who don’t know how to get their act straight! And come on, we need to take simple decisions better and need that hunger and confidence in our team. I cannot see the confidence that Arsenal used to have in our current squad and we seriously, I mean seriously need some players who can help change things around and who can help instill that confidence back in our team.

Bendtner & Walcott

Bendtner & Walcott

After a very harsh email to Arsenal after the Champions League Semi Final Against Manchester United, I calmed down a bit and was all excited for another weekend match at the Emirates Stadium.

Sat on my couch, turned on the TV and switched to Star Sports. It was interesting to see eight changes in the side with more young players given a chance against Portsmouth. The big guys were rested for the mid-week Champions League second leg at the Emirates Stadium, which was a good move since we were already on a secure 4th position which was further confirmed after the win today.

Alex Song played as a central defender alongside Djourou, and having Arshavin in the squad is turning out to be a match booster. It was good to see Carlos Vela back into the squad, and Aaron Ramsey was given a start as well. Great game play by Arsenal and the young lads took over the game with a 3-0 win over Portsmouth with Bendtner grabbing two goals, first scoring with his head in the 10th minute and then on a penalty just before halftime. Vela’s strike got the third goal in the 56th minute and even though Portsmouth did try to fight back, but they were not really able to convert the chances that they got.

Good defending, great passing, classy Arsenal moves, counter attacks and great Arsenal passion lead to this win.  All in all was a great come back and it feels great with 21 unbeaten matches in the Premiere League. I hope we can stay the whole season unbeaten next year and win the league to be crowned the new “young” invincibles. Would be a great achievement really.

Arsene has done built a great young team and this team is going to go a long way.
