Workplace – Photography Madness – Photo Shoot Day 1

After work hours at the workplace can be exciting because a lot of amazing things become obvious for a photo shoot session. Ive been on this photography drive like crazy and have started saving up for a DSLR. But until I don’t get that, I’ll keep on experimenting with my Sony Cyber Shot W350 to achieve its maximum potential.

Do leave your feedback, suggestions ad views about this photo shoot in the comments section below :)

Photography Fever: Clash of the Titans

We got these Ben 10 characters at work as promotional gifts.  I’m on a photography fever these days, and while playing with my camera I just thought to bring these characters to life.

I’m not really a cartoon freak anymore, apart from the fact that I still love “Looney Toons” and “Tom & Jerry.”

Express News Facebook Page – Disrespectful!

Well apart from the disrespect and the most stupidest things being done by the media (news channels) to generate more GRPs/TRPs for their respective channels through sensationalization, this post is about something completely different that I encountered today.

With the expansion of social media (especially Facebook), many companies and brands have been jumping on to making and managing their Facebook Page in order to stay connected to their audiences/consumers. Similarly I had been a fan of the Express News fan page on Facebook and I was shocked as I saw a picture shared by the people managing the Express News page. Depending on the type of brand/company, the stance of the etiquettes can vary. Like for example, the Facebook page of AXE Effect, will have a completely different way of communicating with their customers as compared to Pepsi Cola, or maybe a Bank.

I really don’t know what to call it as I am out of words. Take a look at it yourself and tell me what do you think. Express News Facebook page shared the following photo today:

Why don’t you have a closer look?

girl dragged

I am not sure about you guys, but at least I don’t expect a News Channel to behave in a disrespectful way towards anyone. Even if it is for fun. It is not a fun group managed by unprofessional people, and this is not the only way to engage the consumers by sharing irrelevant and dis-respectful photos and videos. Maybe I am being over critical, but I still don’t feel this is right.

I just thought I’d share. Check it out for your own self: http://www.facebook.com/ExpressNews1

Not-So-Democratic?

Democracy has been the over-used ‘keyword’ for solving all issues related to Pakistan ever since the media got liberated. We’ve seen well known people talk about it on talk shows across media channels and we’ve also seen the political party representatives boast about the need for a democratic government in Pakistan. But do you think this really is the case, and can you really anticipate where are we headed as a country with this democratic label? To be honest, I am not a political person, and I don’t support any group or political party whatsoever. And I would also want to clarify my stance that I do not wish to get any one offended with whatever I write.

I do agree that a pure democratic government can help and increase a country’s chances to jump on a track of progress and development, but what do we do if the ‘democratic label’ itself is being used in a deceitful manner. Why are all the so called ‘democratic’ political parties of this country are known by the name of their leaders? Isn’t that dictatorship within the political party itself? Shouldn’t every party have an internal system of elections to nominate the party leader for specific tenures to ensure that the respective party is democratic?

I don’t think that any political party in Pakistan has a proper internal system of elections to rotate the system of their leaders. The complete political scenario has turned into ‘dynastic politics’ in the name of ‘democracy’ and the masses who vote for them are not even sure of what democracy should actually stand for. When a political leader in this country starts increasing his/her popularity points through media, the next step involves the relatives stepping into the scenario by taking on lead roles within the government or the political party. And then, everyone talks about ‘merit’… yeah right!

Wow… What a democratic system is in the making for this country… eh? Making everyone a fool out of the situation? So is it really about democracy, or the hunger for popularity, power and money that drives dynastic politics? A party being run through dynastic politics can never implement democracy, as they don’t understand the need for internal elections to maintain a democratic stance. They rather believe in submitting their will to the ‘kings’ of the party. If this was the democracy we have been talking about, I think we were far better off under dictatorship. Because eventually these chosen ones, ensure that they make the civilians pay a price. This is just a sad state for all of us as a nation, as we are literally hanging in the middle of nowhere.

It is about being the ‘chosen-one’ for these politicians within their parties, where they are being treated as the ‘kings’ with huge mansions enjoying the luxuries of life. We live in a country where the political party leaders are larger than the name of the party itself. And when these leaders pass away, their role is passed on to their heirs as a legacy. Isn’t their a difference between feudalism and democracy? Maybe they have overlapping definitions in Pakistan. Its more of a personal power and popularity hunger rather than democratic efforts by the politicians, and we are stuck in the middle of no-where as a nation because we are always made to go for things that are a beautiful representation of something deceitful. As the saying goes, ‘everything that glitters is not gold.’

Pressurizing Salesmen At Liberty Books, The Forum – Karachi

Don’t you often like to go for window shopping and pass some time when you’re either extremely bored, or you’re waiting for someone to pick you up? And when you specifically want to check out some reading stuff while you are at The Forum in Karachi, nothing beats Liberty Books. I used to have this perception before what happened with me last Saturday.

It was such a pathetic visit to Liberty Books for me that I’d rather think a thousand times before stepping in one of its stores the next time. I have no idea why salesmen in such shops try to put pressure on the customers while they are trying to skim through the shelves of books. That’s what one of the objective of Liberty Books is is a premium bookstore..that the customer has the leverage to do select books at his own pace. Last Saturday, I just happened to be at The Forum, while waiting for a friend when I decided to pay a visit to the newly built bigger Liberty Books.

Since I went there with an exploratory mind, I started to swift through various shelves trying to read book synopsis and summaries. But these two stupid ass idiotic sales reps pissed the crap out of me! They just did not want to leave me alone to let me relax and go through the books at my own pace. The stupid guys kept on standing on my head even though I told them a few times I was just looking around. It seriously looked either they were trying to put pressure on me to buy a book or were trying to make me leave immediately. I even checked myself in the mirror a few times just to confirm if I look like a thief.. But I seriously couldn’t get what were they suspecting or was it just their way to treat customers.

I was so damn pissed off with them as they kept making me feel weird by staring at me with weird angles and by standing right on top of my head no matter to which shelve I moved. One of them also kept on greeting me with ‘Salams’ quite a few times time and again. It looked as if he was trying to make me feel that I was at the wrong place.

It was a horrible experience and I seriously thought of complaining to their management. Pathetic training to this idiot staff I must say and I seriously would not like to go back to such a shop even if I have to buy anythng from there. The whole idea of having a big shop and making customers feel at home is just not being followed by this stupid bookstore and its just simply plain IDIOTIC!
