Don’t you often like to go for window shopping and pass some time when you’re either extremely bored, or you’re waiting for someone to pick you up? And when you specifically want to check out some reading stuff while you are at The Forum in Karachi, nothing beats Liberty Books. I used to have this perception before what happened with me last Saturday.

It was such a pathetic visit to Liberty Books for me that I’d rather think a thousand times before stepping in one of its stores the next time. I have no idea why salesmen in such shops try to put pressure on the customers while they are trying to skim through the shelves of books. That’s what one of the objective of Liberty Books is is a premium bookstore..that the customer has the leverage to do select books at his own pace. Last Saturday, I just happened to be at The Forum, while waiting for a friend when I decided to pay a visit to the newly built bigger Liberty Books.

Since I went there with an exploratory mind, I started to swift through various shelves trying to read book synopsis and summaries. But these two stupid ass idiotic sales reps pissed the crap out of me! They just did not want to leave me alone to let me relax and go through the books at my own pace. The stupid guys kept on standing on my head even though I told them a few times I was just looking around. It seriously looked either they were trying to put pressure on me to buy a book or were trying to make me leave immediately. I even checked myself in the mirror a few times just to confirm if I look like a thief.. But I seriously couldn’t get what were they suspecting or was it just their way to treat customers.

I was so damn pissed off with them as they kept making me feel weird by staring at me with weird angles and by standing right on top of my head no matter to which shelve I moved. One of them also kept on greeting me with ‘Salams’ quite a few times time and again. It looked as if he was trying to make me feel that I was at the wrong place.

It was a horrible experience and I seriously thought of complaining to their management. Pathetic training to this idiot staff I must say and I seriously would not like to go back to such a shop even if I have to buy anythng from there. The whole idea of having a big shop and making customers feel at home is just not being followed by this stupid bookstore and its just simply plain IDIOTIC!

They are not only idiots but fools too. I resubscribed to Reader’s Digest and a month later when I called them they told me that they did not receive any payment from me . . . they had lost the cheque. Liberty Books is a highly unprofessional organisation and this attitude serves as a customer repellent rather than to cater to our needs.
They must have tried to sell you the entire volume of Twilight. This post reminds me to write something about what they did to me. Morons!

101% agreed with Hiba that they are highly unprofessionals not only SalesMen but also others.

Last year I had a visit to their head office as a candidate for the Post of “Supply Chain Officer”,the interviewer was “Sales Promotion Manager” instead of any person from the “Supply Chain Department”,at the end of the interview he offered me the job of “Sales Man” at thier store.

First he told me his wrong name and I came to know that at the end of the interview when he gave me his visiting card with other name.

Their Head Office is in a residential building near saddar and they are practicing every thing very unsmooth.

The Head office is just Mess!

I’m also agreed that the salesmen were Idiots…..they were hovering around the customers like we all were thieves..i was feeling very uncomfortable there, while reviewing the books at different sections….they must change their attitude or policy…..or whatever they have….Liberty bookstore is such a prestigious organization…but it seems they aren’t planning well to attract the readers…..

I am not surprised after reading this blog post because I’ve had many experiences like these before. Still, with the variety and quality of books they have at their stores, compels me to visit them again. *poor me*

About the management, I happen to be affiliated with one of the publishing houses and I have talked to others in the industry about their views on Liberty itself. Seems like no one objects to the fact that Liberty’s management as well as its owners are one of the most grumpiest and graceless people in the business. Well then, what else would you expect from the people working from them?

what do you expect from khoteywaley (dunkey cart) jab selling
books. Dont worry folks I had the similar experience with
those stupid gaddhey gari waloon sey. They better wind
up this type of business and run a paan ki dokan. But even
there they have to behave themselves. Thori apni ejjat banana sekh lo, ya pher lalooket mein chappal becho, usme sahee jamoonge.

Aslam Sahab, Don’t try to defend something that you don’t even know of. Or maybe you have your stakes in Liberty books. Waise aapki auqat tou 50 Rupees ki bhi nahi lag rahi ;) .
