Flower Adverts (Review) – 123fleurs.com

We all must agree that we usually link flowers to happy occassions. And as marketers if we ever think about creating an advertising campaign for happy occassion based flowers or a flowershop, we would most certainly be skewed towards relating the campaign to happy occassions like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, valentines day, etc.

Keeping this notion in mind I came across a few ads that are attached below, that totally changed my perspective of thinking in-side the box. These ads belong to an online French flower store named 123fleurs.com and are promoting flowers as safer gifts. Since flowers do compete indirectly against a lot of other gift items based on a specific share of pocket, 123fleurs.com has used this  idea in an extremely amazing manner by depicting tragedy and shock with a tagline “Flowers Would Have Been A Better Idea!” This tagline sums the whole ad up.

The first ad is about an old lady, who died because of a heart attack she got by getting a sudden shock when she opened her gift. The gift in this case is the famous “Jack-In-The-Box,” which is very well known to give shock surprises for fun. As I said earlier that the tagline ”Flowers Would Have Been A Better Idea!” sums up the whole ad and sticks to your mind to be careful in selecting a gift for an old or a sensitive person the next time. And you might as well end up getting flowers :-D .

Similarly the second ad shows a pilot making a heart for his beloved through an air show, which is indeed about communicating a message on an anniversary, birthday or maybe valentines day, but its very depressing to see … that the planes crash! And then after getting quite sad at the image, we see a message at the bottom mentioning  that “Flowers Would Have Been A Better Idea!”

Very interesting concept overall. Would love to see more of them. If I find some, I’ll post back. In the mean time, if you wish to access 123fleurs.com, you can access it here.

Career Junction – Grocery List Advert (Ad Review)

Very nice ad by CareerJunction.com. Check out the amazing pen sketch and great visuals over all.

At the first glimpse the visuals are very impressing and you cannot really understand what the ad is about. You go through the amazing artwork  and you can read bread, sugar, tea, milk, tuna and juice, which is the typical grocery list written beautifully on the  notepad. But when you look at the tag line/slogan at the lower end, it says “Put Your Skills To Better Use” with a Career Junction logo. This is the time when you relate yourself to your own job and think if that’s the case with your own self. In majority of the cases you are unhappy with your job and would want to go on the Career Junction website and take your chance

Extremely catchy advert and I would rate it 8 out of 10 on creativity, message communication and service positioning.

Kung-Fu: Bruce Lee vs. Robert Wall (Video)

A Kung-Fu fight scene from Bruce Lee’s movie “Enter the Dragon” released in 1973. Great reflexes, amazing acrobatics and solid kicks by Bruce Lee send Robert Hall back home. A treat to watch!

I remember practicing some basic exercises of this great game about 7 to 8 years back with a Mathematics teacher of mine who was crazy about Martial Arts, specifically Kung-Fu.

Though I was not able to carry it on after a few months, but it does make a person ROCK SOLID for sure, with a good body shape.

Amway Car Polish “Shine Like New” – Beetle Advert

Amway Car Polish

Amway Car Polish

Was surfing through several pictures and I found this cool print advert. It shows how the famous 1950s-1960s Volkswagen Beetle is being converted to the ‘New’ Beetle by polishing the car up with Amway Car Polish.

A very simple concept but conveys the message in a crisp and clear manner. All I can think of by looking at this image is the comparison of the shine that Amway Polish has brought to a dull old body, and I believe that’s how they intend to position the brand specially with the tagline “Shine Like New” on their product.

I was trying to find when and where this campaign was executed and I got to know that the campaign was executed in Thailand in February 2009 and was launched on Print and Outdoor. The Agency who made it was DENTSU Y&R Bankok. I was not able to find a post-campaign analysis, but if someone knows how this campaign did, do give me some feedback on the comments area below.

This campaign also got quite famous on the blogosphere as mentioned by the Amway Corp. Official Media Blog which you can access here. You can also find the ad posted on another blog named Bhatnaturally which you can access here.

Do keep me posted if anyone of you know more about this campaign.
